Plasmonica International School on Plasmonics and Nano-optics
3-7 June 2024 in Como (Italy)
Researchers in nano-optics and plasmonics invent efficient ways to control the interaction between light and matter at the nanoscale. The developments in nanotechnology promise to replace the functionalities of many bulk optical components (such as lenses, filters and waveplates), as well as light sources and detectors, with miniaturized versions amenable to integration into small and energy-efficient devices. Moreover, studies of nanostructured world, enriched with ultrafast and quantum effects, could lead to revolutionary optical technologies for applications spanning from biomedicine assays to telecommunications; they could also allow to optically access the properties of the nano-world, in fields such as microscopy and sensing.
The 4th edition of the International School on Plasmonics and Nano-optics brings together doctoral students, early-stage researchers and renowned academics working in various fields of light–matter interaction at the nanoscale. Frontal lectures, covering both fundamentals and applied aspect of Plasmonics and Nano-optics, are complemented by scientific seminars, introducing the latest discoveries and application directions of the field. The participants are involved in active learning tasks, which will encourage interaction with lecturers and multidisciplinary collaborations.
The School is promoted and co-sponsored by Plasmonica (www.plasmonica.it) – the Italian community of plasmonics and nano-optics and a working group of the Italian Optical Society (SIOF) https://www.siof-ottica.it/.
This School has received funding from the European Union’s research and innovation programmes Horizon 2020, under grant agreement No 899673 METAFAST ( https://www.metafast-h2020.eu/), and Horizon Europe, under grant agreement iSenseDNA (id: 101046920, https://www.isensedna.eu/).
